There are some positives to take out of this game, including a four-assist night from Morgan Rielly, the monkey finally getting off of Nick Ritchie’s back, and the best Muzzin-Holl game defensively in a long time from what I’ve been observing.

We share a common dislike for when teams are rewarded for bad habits. That last part is what frustrated Keefe so much. They let Columbus back in the game in the second period, followed it up with a pair of quick goals towards the end of the frame, then completely took their foot off the gas in the third. The Leafs controlled the run of play in the first period, getting out to an early 3-0 lead. The Toronto Maple Leafs defeated the Columbus Blue Jackets by a final score of 5-4, although it was certainly closer than it probably should’ve been. Sheldon Keefe put it well in his post-game press conference. “It is not a good game for us, but it is a good result”
